• MAUDLYN CLAIRE •
Having been inspired by the likes of Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, and Dave McKean as well as her interest in early medieval religious art, Maudlyn Claire furthered her education in fine arts at East Tennessee State University with a concentration in Fiber Art. Since then, she found herself gravitating towards drawing and painting portraits of both people and animals. Her mixed media style is a self-taught merging of watercolor, gouache and India ink. Her colorful portraits have often been described as ethereal, whimsical, and magical realism - as she attempts to capture not only the appearance of her subjects, but also their inherent spirits, strengths and vulnerabilities.
